Why do we keep apparatus coming Class 1 to confirmed false calls? When the owner or PD or another Fire Dept. advise its a false call shouldnt we woe everything down? Even better, why do we let apparatus that has failed be replaced on confirmed false calls? And then when the replacement goes responding they come in Class 1? Why when the county advised us its a confirmed false call do we reply on the radio with "UH, OK" and then dont say anything else...like "PUT THE BOX IN SERVICE!". What legal issues present themselves if you are involved in an accident responding balls to the wall to a confirmed false alarm? :-*What happens if you kill Mrs. Jones with your 30 ton fire truck responding Class 1 to the same auto alarm that has been false the other 3 times it came in that week and you where advised by the County while enroute that it was false this time? Was it REALLY worth it? Just some food for thought!

I have to agree with you Red Rider why respond class 1 on a false call . Common sense should kick in and you should continue in class 3. Hold it to your companies first responding unit and place the rest of the box in service. Just a thought maybe to upgrade your company SOP's to address those situations. Then we wouldn't have to worry about the widow of Mrs. Jones & Lawyers
