I'll try to bring our members "up to speed" on what we believe happened in the past week or so.
Yes the Proboards deleted the original CentralPaFire for a TOS agreement. Why? Well there were a few rumors floating around but the moderators from the old board have a theory built on various personal messages and educated guesses.
We all pretty much agree to this scenerio: Johnny Knoxville and company, who apparently are from down the Cumberland Valley and seem to have a whole different slant on what should be allowed to be posted, "loaded" the site with violations of the TOS, then someone(probably them) notified the Proboard and they deleted the site for violations. Immediately afterward, and probably waiting for that to happen, several of these people "stole" the original idea and started CentralPaFire2. A lot of people joined and immediately one could sense that this wasn't the same group of moderators as the old site. Most of the more interesting postings had to do with what had happened to the old site. Within two days, it too was axed for whatever reason.
Over all of this the moderators from the old site, plus a few other more active members and our esteemed Joe, have been firing emails back and forth to determine our next course of action. There are several options to explore here. There is a face to face meeting of the above members tonight to find out which way we will proceed. But please take heart, there will be a resurrection somehow of the original CentralPaFire. The very unfortunate thing though is that all the posts that were in the old site are gone. . .unless someone had copied them into files of their own.
Although I'm a "Dauphin County boy" at heart and applaud those who have started this site, I support Joe and Company in hopes of getting a more regional site back on line. Cumberland County has a wonderful site going and HFDFiretalk is a great idea, albeit very little activity, but by covering Central Pa, we appeal to a much broader group of people. . .like we did in the past. And in this day of "regionalization" of unified fire service, crossing county boundary lines on a regular basis with mutual aid, a regional fire school(PSTC), and other "regional" special rescue teams, it only makes sense --to me anyway--NOT to think smaller again when it comes to communicating with each other via an internet forum.
So please bear with us. . .
Thanks
Hobbes

It kinda bites that certain people had to ruin it for everybody. That's why i started this site so the guys and gals have place to go with out the hassle. Hopefully i can keep it under control and weed out the trouble makers. But we shall see,we shall see.

;D It is good to see something back. Let's all try to keep in fair. We can give our viewpoints without slamming everyone else. Try signing your name to things and it might be different.

Before the rumor mill starts here i want to set the record straight. In no way this site is associated with Central Pa Fire or it's administration. Hopefully here in the near future it will will be back i know we all miss it.I'm sure that the admin's of Central Pa will get things in order and be back. This site is it's own separate entity it was just time for someone to start a Dauphin County site.

Well Squadie... Just thought i'd give all these county's a forum till Central Pa Fire is up and running again. This is just a rough draft of the this site until i figure out in which direction i'm going to take it in. Forums will be added and deleted as needed. If you have any suggestions please feel free to pm me.

Good job and good luck.
Although I do miss CPAFire, Not to many people know that this site is up for us to all use, hopefully the word will get around soon enough, and/or CPAfire get up and running with a new site.

Lilchick50 yer in luck. . . Centralpafire is BACK! The board currently resides at centralpafire.sectorlink.org/forumIn another day or so, the centralpafire.com link will be active again. There is a place on the new board where you can donate to help defray the cost of operation. Or you can see one of the board moderators and make a cash donation. Stay safe, and see you on the REAL Central PA Fire! Stay safe, Hobbes
