A Glimpse Back in Time. . .
Fascinating HFD Panoramic Photos Now Available
For the first time ever, the Pa. National Fire Museum is now offering for sale, full size reproductions of the two panoramic photos taken in 1921 and 1932 of the apparatus and manpower of the Harrisburg Fire Department. Familiar to a lot of fire buffs, originals of these two prints are extremely hard to come by. Both of these photos were added to the inside rear cover of the book “The History of the Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department” written by Dave Houseal, published in 1999 and still available at the museum, but these photos are less then half the size of the reprints and are not suitable for framing. The reproductions are copied from the original prints.
Available with the prints will also be a description of the Harrisburg Fire Department at the time the photos were taken and detailed information on each company and the apparatus shown written by HFD historian Dave Houseal. None of the apparatus in either photo is known to exist today.
Ordering information for each photo is as follows:
1921 Market Square photo: measures 57” long and 13” high. Cost is $65.00 plus $5.00 for shipping and handling if mailed.
1932 Fisher Plaza photo: measures 46” long x 8” high. Cost is $55.00 plus $5.00 for shipping and handling if mailed.
The photos are NOT framed nor mounted. The photos will be UV protected to avoid fading or discoloration. The photos will be black and white and not sepia toned.
Shipping and handling charges will be waived if the photo(s) are picked up at the museum. If ordering both photos(or multiple photos) to be mailed together, only one shipping and handling cost will be charged. Individual museum members may deduct 10% off the total cost. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery.
Please contact Dave Houseal(HOBBES) at HFD82@aol.com or anyone at the museum if you are interested.
